The wedding of John F. Kennedy Jr. with Carolyn Bessette, that took place on 21st September in the year 1996, was a hush-hush affair.
They exchanged the vows in Cumberland Island which is located near Georgia.
As Kennedys life was a publicized one, his wedding was a total opposite to this. Both of them were very much conscious about keeping their wedding a secret affair, so much so that they made all the waiters and caterers sign the confidential agreements.
The Washington socialite, Peggy Cafritz, told that Most women would want to have weddings that all of their friends and family would see and remember, but I’m sure [Carolyn] understood the impossibility of doing that.
Carolyn Bessettes dress was made by the famous designer Narciso Rodriguez, while John F. Kennedy Jr. wore a tuxedo which another designer Gordon Henderson designed. They got married at the First African Baptist Church where there were only eight pews.
As far as guests were concerned, there were Lee Radziwill, sister of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, along with her son Anthony, Senator Ted Kennedy, the uncle of the groom, Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, who was also the matron of honor and the sister of John F. Kennedy Jr.
After the wedding it was a celebration that took place in Greyfield Inn. There was a beautiful three-tier cake with vanilla butter flavor. The newlyweds danced the night way with the beautiful rendition of the song Forever in My Life by Prince.
