Burger King is all set to foot the bill for 1 lucky pair, The State Journal-Register’s Springdale, Ill., newspaper reports. It is not because that they are loyal customers or they have won a contest. The well known fast-food chain is spending this because the groom’s last name is Burger while the last name of the bride is King.
Joel Burger and Ashley King, Jacksonville residents, met when they were in kindergarten, and were handed the name “Burger King” by a motivational speaker in 5th grade.
Burger King employees noticed the funny coincidence in the couple’s newspaper marriage announcement. In their engagement snap, they even uploaded next to a Burger King sign.
On 5th April, Burger King food chain tweeted: “Mr. Burger and Ms. King? Is this real life?”
“Please help us find this amazing couple. #BurgerKingWedding.”
When Ashley replied, the handle said back: “If it isn’t Mrs Burger-King to be. Send us a DM, we have something special for you.”
On 8th April, Wednesday, Burger King posted a video chat on YouTube they had with the future spouses. A spokeswoman first teased that personalized yo-yos as well as koozies would be made, before revealing the special surprise.
In a note, the spokesperson said: “We have one more custom idea we would like to show you,”
“Burger King wants to help give you a whopper of a wedding. In other words: It’s on us. The wedding that is…”
